Job description:
Reporting to the IT Manager of Wintel Engineering, the Senior Systems Engineer is part of a global team comprised of engineers responsible for the architecture and engineering activities for Microsoft infrastructure technologies including client and servers, messaging environment, Office Communication Server and global anti-virus protection.
A core requirement of this candidate will be to have a passion to innovate and drive for enterprise level technology solutions, while displaying personal accountability for results and an uncompromising dedication to quality.
This candidate will be responsible for multiple engineering functions including creation of engineering solutions that adhere to engineering standards and be in compliance with global security standards and policies. This position also assists with audit and compliance by responding to audits and performing remediation activities.
These responsibilities will require the candidate to meet with several cross functional teams and specifically Application Development teams to understand their application’s computing needs and factor this understanding into the infrastructure solutions & designs.
Other responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Designs, prepares and conducts new technology evaluations for Windows and Intel solutions to determine infrastructure solutions based on current and future business requirements, and makes recommendations for improvement of infrastructure, technology, operational capability, reliability and performance.
• Analyzes existing Wintel infrastructure and makes recommendations for improvement of infrastructure, technology, operational capability, reliability and performance
• Creates infrastructure solutions for server refresh efforts and for business and applications solutions
• Drives innovation in Microsoft and Intel server technology and stays current with new vendor offerings
• Understand the Client’s Technology Adoption Process and leverages it to lead POC’s in the assessment of new server technologies.
• As part of solution design and technology refresh, analyzes the performance of the infrastructure against current needs and planning for needed improvements.
• Responsible for developing, maintaining and documenting technology standards used in the environment.
• Creates and maintains design and build documentation, and as applicable the documentation of run books for operation and maintenance of infrastructure for the Tier I and Tier II support teams
• Works closely with Information Security to develop and update security standards and create secure and hardened Windows Server OS Builds and applications
Wymagania: Requirements
• Candidate must have proven track record in performing in the responsibilities outlined above,
• Proficient with Active directory, File and Print and Windows Clustering
• Advanced knowledge and experience of Windows 2003/2008 Server products
• Experience with Disaster Recovery and high availability solutions
• Experience with software, OS provisioning and compliance and configuration management tools such as SCCM, Bladelogic, HP Insight or IBM Director
• Experience with VMware ESX and/or Microsoft Hyper-V
• Experience with McAfee, Credant and other similar products
• Advanced understanding of server security models, including virtual servers
• Experience in working within a global and distributed team, excellent verbal and written communication; ability to convey complex information in solution design documentation and comfortable in the presentation of materials and to project teams and management, ability to work autonomously and exhibiting self drive and enthusiasm, demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and change with shifting priorities.
• Comfortable in dealing ambiguity and being effective in the role of an engineer designing solutions leveraging different assumptions
Qualifications
• B.S. Computer Science or equivalent experience preferred
• At least 5 years in a similar position
• Microsoft certification
• CCIE, ITIL certifications are a plus
• Fluent English
